Your Main Castle/Fortress
After you have chosen your coat of arms and given your Castle a name, you will find yourself in a small fortress located in "The Great Empire".Your small fortress will come surrounded by a basic wooden wall and contain a building called "the Keep". Your fortress will also come with a small amount of resources. The resources will consist of Wood, Stone and Bread to feed your future soldiers.
The Keep
The Keep comes with your Castle. In fact, it comes with every Castle/Outpost in the game. The Keep controls the speed that anything can be built inside your Castle.
Your Castle comes with the level one Keep. The level one Keep only builds at 100% efficiency. You will be able to upgrade your Keep to improve the building speed after you have earned a new level ranking in the game. If you select the Keep icon, it will tell you what level you need to reach in order to be able to upgrade to the next level Keep.
The Keep is also a "safe storehouse". This means that a certain amount of your resources (Wood, Stone, Food) will never ever be taken in a raid. For a level one Keep, 800 of each of your resources is safe from attacking armies/raiders.
Castle Wall
Your Castle comes with a level one Wall. The level one Wall provides a 20% defense bonus to your Castle. You can usually upgrade your Wall at anytime, as long as you have the resources to do so (More details about this will be mentioned in the Castle Wall post).
Your Castle Wall will automatically increase in length whenever you purchase an extension to your Castle. You can purchase a Castle extension under the "Build Menu". The extension increases your courtyard space allowing for more items to be built within your Castle.

Castle Gate
Your Castle comes with a basic Gate. If you upgrade to a level one gate, it will provide a 20% defense bonus to ONLY the gate portion of the Castle. A level one gate also increases the Public Order in your Castle by 5 points (More on Public Order in a separate post).Tower Base (Tower Level Zero)
Your Castle Wall comes with four Tower base sections (also known as Tower Level "0"). You will be able to add a Tower to each of the base sections that your wall has available.Tower
As noted above, you have the option of adding a Tower to each Tower Base section. Each level one Tower you add will allow you to station 3 soldiers on the wall. These soldiers help protect your Castle from attacks/raids.Each level one Tower increases the Public Order in your Castle by 2 points (More on Public Order in a separate post).
You can also purchase extensions for your Castle to expand your courtyard space. The extensions will include a Wall expansion. The expanded Wall will include more base sections that you can build Towers on.
I hope this introduction has helped you learn more about your Fortress. My next Castle post will go into more detail about setting up the inner workings of your Castle.
