EMPIRE: FOUR KINGDOMS...YOUR CASTLE (Part 2)

What do you do first?

The first thing you should do is go to the "Build Menu" tab and build a "Woodcutter" and a "Stone Quarry". These are the buildings you will need in order to replenish your Wood & Stone resources.

The Woodcutter and Stone Quarry will supply you with the resources to build more of the items that you will need in order to fortify your Castle.

I would recommend that you build a Woodcutter and Stone Quarry (in that order) until you have three of each building. You will not need to build a farmhouse until you decide to add soldiers to your Castle (I will get into the reasoning behind that in a separate post).

How many do I need (Woodcutter / Stone Quarry)?

In the beginning, I would recommend building only three of each of the Woodcutter and Stone Quarry. Each building can be upgraded to produce more resources without using up more of your limited courtyard space.

Why three of each? Mainly because only the first three buildings in your Castle will produce at full capacity (100% output). Only your main Castle is allotted 3 of each resource building that produce at 100% capacity (More details on "limits" will be published in another post). Having 3 resource buildings (Wood, Stone, Food) will give you enough supplies to make the other buildings that you will need in this game.

Every resource building, built after the first 3 buildings, will only be able to produce at 75% capacity of the last building built.

For example, after the allotted 3 resource buildings at 100%, the next resource building built will only produce at 75% capacity (which is 75% of the 100% capacity building). Then, the next building will only produce at 56% capacity (which is 75% of the 75% capacity building). The buildings resource capacity will continue to decrease at this rate until output is at 1% (How this works will be explained in more detail in a separate post).

My next Castle post will be going into more detail about setting up the inner workings of your Castle.

EMPIRE: FOUR KINGDOMS...YOUR CASTLE (Part 1)

Your Main Castle/Fortress

After you have chosen your coat of arms and given your Castle a name, you will find yourself in a small fortress located in "The Great Empire".

Your small fortress will come surrounded by a basic wooden wall and contain a building called "the Keep". Your fortress will also come with a small amount of resources. The resources will consist of Wood, Stone and Bread to feed your future soldiers.

The Keep

The Keep comes with your Castle. In fact, it comes with every Castle/Outpost in the game. The Keep controls the speed that anything can be built inside your Castle.

Your Castle comes with the level one Keep. The level one Keep only builds at 100% efficiency. You will be able to upgrade your Keep to improve the building speed after you have earned a new level ranking in the game. If you select the Keep icon, it will tell you what level you need to reach in order to be able to upgrade to the next level Keep.

The Keep is also a "safe storehouse". This means that a certain amount of your resources (Wood, Stone, Food) will never ever be taken in a raid. For a level one Keep, 800 of each of your resources is safe from attacking armies/raiders.

Castle Wall

Your Castle comes with a level one Wall. The level one Wall provides a 20% defense bonus to your Castle. You can usually upgrade your Wall at anytime, as long as you have the resources to do so (More details about this will be mentioned in the Castle Wall post).

Your Castle Wall will automatically increase in length whenever you purchase an extension to your Castle. You can purchase a Castle extension under the "Build Menu". The extension increases your courtyard space allowing for more items to be built within your Castle.

Castle Gate

Your Castle comes with a basic Gate. If you upgrade to a level one gate, it will provide a 20% defense bonus to ONLY the gate portion of the Castle. A level one gate also increases the Public Order in your Castle by 5 points (More on Public Order in a separate post).

Tower Base (Tower Level Zero)

Your Castle Wall comes with four Tower base sections (also known as Tower Level "0"). You will be able to add a Tower to each of the base sections that your wall has available.

Tower

As noted above, you have the option of adding a Tower to each Tower Base section. Each level one Tower you add will allow you to station 3 soldiers on the wall. These soldiers help protect your Castle from attacks/raids.

Each level one Tower increases the Public Order in your Castle by 2 points (More on Public Order in a separate post).

You can also purchase extensions for your Castle to expand your courtyard space. The extensions will include a Wall expansion. The expanded Wall will include more base sections that you can build Towers on.

I hope this introduction has helped you learn more about your Fortress. My next Castle post will go into more detail about setting up the inner workings of your Castle.

EMPIRE: FOUR KINGDOMS...IN THE BEGINNING

Where are you?

When you first join this game you are in an area called "the Great Empire". This land is a lush, verdant forest setting. It is here that you will have your main stronghold, your Castle.

Your Castle

Your Castle will always be located in the Great Empire. This world is represented by a crest of a Lion on a shield.

When you first sign up for the game you will be asked to name your Castle, choose your coat of arms and give yourself a game name. Choose all of these with care & consideration. In fact, you should choose a name and coat of arms you will enjoy using for a long time.

Why? Because if you change your mind you will have to buy rubies (with real world money) in order to get them revised to something else. Frankly, as a Non-Ruby Buying player, I think that's a waste of your hard earned Rubies.

Castle Information

Your Castle is the one item in this game that can't be taken by another player. It can only belong to you, and you alone.

This doesn't mean that your Castle will not be attacked. This is a war game after all. But, there are things you can do to fortify your Castle so that you won't be such an easy target. I'll get into more detail on that, in some separate posts, a little later on.

Keep an eye out for my next posts where I'll be going into more detail about your Castle.

WELCOME

Hello and Welcome
my fellow Empire gamers.

This blog will be a guide to the "Goodgame Empire: Four Kingdoms" online game from the perspective of an Android phone player. My notes, and everything I write about, will be from the viewpoint of a Non-Ruby buying player. Though I will talk about Rubies, for the most part, the only rubies I will mention will be those that I will earn through the course of the game through quests or completing a level.

I originally collected this information for myself as a beginning player who was feeling their way about the game. I found it very time consuming to glean information from the forums and wished there were a place where I could easily find out what I wanted to know without wasting hours digging through old forum posts. I hope to make this blog, that place.

I'm still learning how to play the game. While I am no longer a beginner, I am far from the most advanced player around. I consider myself an intermediate player, who is slowly becoming more advanced the more I play. Therefore, this blog will reflect that. I'll be putting in all the things I've learned so far and will be adding more as I advance through the game.

I hope you find my notes useful in your game play. New stuff will be added on a regular basis.

See you in the Goodgame Empire!
